The opening of the “Hospital of the Future,” Methodist Stone Oak Hospital, brings specific infrastructure designs that reflect very different thinking about how hospitals are organized. In face of rapidly changing patient diagnoses and treatments, Methodist Stone Oak Hospital will focus on easily accessible centers of care and advanced technology to provide a greater level of quality and efficiency.

  • Phase One plans: 132-bed comprehensive acute care hospital and outpatient services
  • Focus on major acute health care services such as Neurosciences, Cardiology and other comprehensive services
  • Designed from the ground floor up with access improvements for easier navigation – with three entrances along one single corridor length of the hospital
  • Along the main corridor will be easily identifiable centers of care resulting in less confusion and frustration for patients, families and visitors
  • Advanced technology like bedside admitting, Electronic Medication Administration Records (eMAR), Electronic Physician Order Management (ePOM) and Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) will result in more efficient and higher quality of care
  • An emergency center designed to serve adults and children will incorporate design and infrastructure changes to enhance the patient/family experience
  • An attached 120,000 square foot Medical Office Building that will house physicians of all specialties
  • Overall master plan includes the possibility of as many as 350 beds
  • All patient rooms are private
