Hospital Ambassadors Developed through Advisory Panel
October 15, 2008
When I was hired three years ago to open Methodist Stone Oak Hospital, I knew I had to become a part of this community in order to build a hospital that would meet its needs. By establishing the Advisory Panel, I have been able to truly put my finger on the pulse of Stone Oak and make decisions about the hospital based on input from the folks who have a vested interest in keeping Stone Oak one of the best places to live.
Methodist Healthcare is already the region’s preferred health care provider, and we are on track to ensure that Methodist Stone Oak Hospital continues the tradition of excellence. Our Advisory Panel members have contributed many volunteer hours to ensure that Methodist Stone Oak Hospital achieves the goal of the Hospital of the Future, bringing high-tech and high-touch together.
The group meets formally on a quarterly basis. We provide them with updates on how construction is going and get input on how we can remain a good neighbor in this community. The panel has helped us select scholarship winners from Ronald Reagan High School and get involved in activities that are specific to Stone Oalk. The panel members serve as ambassadors throughout the community, letting their neighbors and colleagues hear about all the latest happenings at Methodist Stone Oak Hospital, located at 1139 E. Sonterral Blvd. and Highway 281.
In just a few short months, construction will be completed! Between now and then, we have a lot of work to do including hiring the “best and brightest” team of nurses, allied health professionals and support staff. If you’ve driven by recently, you’ve noticed our giant banners letting everyone know that we are NOW HIRING. Anyone interested in applying can call 638-HIRE to find out about job openings and the hiring process.
I look forward to the March 2009 opening of the Hospital of the Future, where high-tech and high-touch come together.

August welcomes two new employees to the team!
September 2, 2008
This month, Eileen Huss joins us full time as our new Vice President of Patient Care Services at Methodist Stone Oak Hospital. Eileen is a great addition to our high tech, high touch approach to providing an extraordinary healing experience from our patients. Eileen has worked for me in two different hospitals prior to coming to San Antonio. I recruited Eileen because of her dedication to quality care and her ability to provide world-class service to our patients. She most recently helped open the Methodist Boerne Emergency Department and was instrumental in getting this emergency department running efficiently.
I’m also excited to announce that Stephanie Parker will join the Methodist Stone Oak Hospital team on September 15 as our Chief Financial Officer. Stephanie’s thirteen year history with Methodist Healthcare System includes serving as the Division Controller from 1998 to present. This experience and her strong Aggie accounting education will bring much strength to the Methodist Stone Oak team.
Methodist Stone Oak Hospital will have the best employees caring for its patients. In just seven more months we will be opening the hospital of the future, where high tech meets high touch.

EMS Appreciation Week: A Huge Success
May 29, 2008
Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you that I believe the front door of the hospital is the emergency department. Our patients’ attitude and expectations of their continued care during their time with us is influenced from the time you deliver them to us. That is why the relationship we build with you is so important. We value the EMS teams that provide service to you and our hospitals.
EMS appreciation week was a huge success. You can see from the photos that we all had a terrific time celebrating at the Methodist Stone Oak Hospital’s EMS event.
I want to thank everyone that made the EMS BBQ a fun filled and successful event.

Methodist Excellence Fiesta Event
May 8, 2008
What a GREAT time we had at our recent Fiesta M.E. event out here on the Methodist Stone Oak Hospital site! Your probably have heard that I value “fun” as one of the most important of our nine behavioral standards, right behind “attitude.” I got to meet and know most of our team members a little better at the event and am convinced we all have the same winning attitude.

Methodist Excellence has nine principles to achieving goals. Our employees excel in these principles to success.
1. Commit to Excellence
2. Measure the Important Things
3. Build a Culture around Service
4. Create and Develop Leaders
5. Focus on Employee Satisfaction
6. Build Individual Accountability
7. Align Behaviors with Goals and Values
8. Communicate at ALL Levels
9. Recognize and Reward Success
I am proud of the team of professionals that have become part of this Methodist Stone Oak Hospital “family.”
